Designing a room to showcase the world's most unique chair. For this project I was tasked to design a room that would best showcase the Hands Chair by Salvador Dali.
~
I chose to tie this chair to the theme of "marijuana", because people in the 1930's were smoking heavily and Salvador Dali had to be high out of his mind to come up with something so bold as the Hands Chair.

Project mainly created and configured in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. Mood board features a timeline layout with main chapters, such as the chair and the ban of marijuana in 1937.

Room designs based on different layouts: radial organization, spiral path, and ordering hierarchy.

Floorplan and Ceiling plan based on the spiral path diagram. Spaces include two columns that can be seen hiding in the curvature of the walls.

Final board consists of an iteration of the first mood board, it also includes the three layout diagrams as well as the final floorplan and ceiling plan. In the last space you can find an unraveled perspective of the chair in it's prime location. I wanted the space to be an experience, an experience to move and feel. I want this space to emulate the idea of feeling the effects of marijuana, because the artist of the Hands Chair was definitely emersed in the effects.

Revision One included adding shag-like materials to the ever so boring floorplan, and calling out the curved like walls that add the fun into the space.

The final add-on for Revision One was the much-improved 3D rendering. Built by taking the floorplan into SketchUp then taking that into photoshop, this truly emulates the fun wackiness of the space.
